THE GREAT TRADITION LVES ON
The Martial Arts Club at the Betty J. Pullum YMCA is proving that persverence and patience pays off.A lot of hard work doesnt hurt either.Ever since opening our beautiful new facility the Martial Arts club has set a standard of training not easily matched. With our mixture of hard and soft styles there is truly something for everyone who has an interest in martial arts training. Our weapons program has proven itself on the local and national tournament circuit and the training in Goshin Jutsu Self Defense has helped our students stay safe and confident in an increasingly violent world. This year will mark a milestone all Sensei look forward to:our first Black Belts. The Instructor Staff here are very proud of our students who have stuck it out and will soon join the ranks of the elite in the Martial Arts community at large.I sincerely hope that they see this milestone as merely a point on their journey through life and not a conclusion to a goal attained. The day I earned my Shodan there were 2 other young men who tested and passed with me.One came back to class once or twice and I never did see the other one again.I saw it as a beginning to a life long journey and I hope we have instilled in these students the same thist for knowledge.
